Celebrating 40 Years of Artistic Excellence: The Waterhouse Gallery's Milestone Anniversary
The Waterhouse Gallery, a beloved institution in the heart of Santa Barbara, is set to commemorate its 40th anniversary with a grand celebration on Saturday, November 23rd. This milestone event will feature a captivating outdoor live painting demonstration followed by a reception, inviting the community to immerse themselves in the gallery's rich artistic legacy.

Unlocking the Doors to Artistic Exploration

A Sanctuary for Art and Emerging Talents

For the past four decades, the Waterhouse Gallery has served as a beacon for art enthusiasts, providing a welcoming space that showcases the finest landscape, figurative, and urban paintings. Co-owners Ralph and Diane Waterhouse have dedicated their lives to nurturing and supporting both established and emerging artists, creating a vibrant community that celebrates the power of visual expression. The gallery's journey began in Solvang in 1985, before the Waterhouses relocated to the charming La Arcada Courtyard in 1991. This move solidified their connection with the Santa Barbara art scene, as they forged close ties with local and regional artists. In 2006, the Waterhouse Gallery made a significant mark by curating the renowned Great American Figurative Exhibition, further cementing their commitment to promoting the art of figurative painting.

Expanding Horizons: A Second Gallery in Montecito

The Waterhouse Gallery's success and dedication to the arts have not gone unnoticed. In recent years, the couple has expanded their reach by opening a second gallery location on Coast Village Road in Montecito. This new venture allows them to share their passion for fine art with an even wider audience, further strengthening their position as a premier destination for art enthusiasts.

Celebrating 40 Years of Artistic Brilliance

As the Waterhouse Gallery prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the excitement is palpable. The day-long event will feature a captivating outdoor live painting demonstration, where eight renowned artists will showcase their talents and bring their canvases to life. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness the creative process unfold, gaining a deeper appreciation for the artistry that graces the gallery's walls. The live painting session, which will run from 1 to 4 p.m., will feature a diverse array of styles and mediums, including the works of Rick Delanty, Derek Harrison, Wyllis Heaton, Kevin Gleason, Craig Nelson, Michael Obermeyer, Frank Serrano, and Thomas Van Stein. These artists have all been featured in the Waterhouse Gallery before, with Gleason, Obermeyer, and Serrano set to join the esteemed lineup.

A Warm Welcome and a Lasting Legacy

Following the live painting demonstration, the celebration will continue with a reception held inside the gallery from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This event will provide an opportunity for art enthusiasts to mingle with the participating artists, learn about their creative processes, and acquire their masterpieces."It has been a tremendous joy to do what we love for the last 40 years," Diane Waterhouse expressed with palpable enthusiasm. "Art is our passion, and we are thrilled to share it with the community we have come to cherish."The Waterhouse Gallery's commitment to creating a welcoming and open space for art has remained steadfast throughout its four-decade journey. As the gallery's inventory continues to evolve, the Waterhouses' dedication to nurturing and supporting both established and emerging artists remains a constant. This 40th-anniversary celebration is a testament to the Waterhouse Gallery's enduring legacy and its unwavering commitment to the arts. It is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and a deep-rooted love for the creative spirit that has sustained this remarkable institution for four decades and counting.
